Mobile phones sure are uninspiring! My current Pixel phone is playing up. It's only a couple of years old but the screen occasionally has a vibrant vertical pink line. Apparently this is a known thing, but good luck fixing it quickly if you don't live in one of the main cities.
I found this out walking into an EE store. EE are one of only two high street stores that offer official repairs. From their website they make it sound like you can just walk into a store and they will repair it in that same store (time would depend on how busy they are, which is fair enough). However, after I walked into my local store they said that the nearest store that does that is practically a different region! And that sending it away to be repaired would take 10 days!!
I can't have my phone disappearing for that long. As much as I increasingly dislike my phone, it's unfortunately a big part of my daily life functionally. I even need it for work because of stupid MFA codes (Multi Factor Authorisation isn't stupid, but the way my workplace has messed around with it is).
So, with all of this I am out of interest looking to see what other phones are out there - aside from iPhones. Well, not a lot. I can get a boring Samsung or another Pixel, but that's about it. Yes, other Android phones do exist. Yet, nothing of scale, especially in the West. OnePlus would be my choice, but they barely seem to exist anymore. Take a look at their UK store, they have no new phones in stock! I like the idea of the Fairphone. But unfortunately that doesn't have wireless charging, and it's a really nice feature.
At the moment, the screen issue is temperamental. So I will see how it gets on. Maybe something will pop up during Prime day for a new phone. If so I would get that and then have the old one repaired before selling off.
