Gradually there are more games getting Switch 2 versions. This is great news, but it's annoying how often little detail is provided as to how these versions are an improvement over the Switch 1 version. Usually the most obvious aspect is the resolution which is easier to identify, but determining frame rate from a trailer is much more difficult, especially if the trailer itself is at YouTube's default frame rate.
Not every game needs to be 60fps, but a lot of the time it does help. Which is why it would be nice to know if the frame rate has been increased or if there is an option. I'm fortunate enough to also have a Steam Deck (I got it last year, a good while before the massive price hike) and for many of these games that are getting Switch 2 versions, they are also on Steam Deck. So I'm trying to make a direct comparison as to which version to go with. The Steam Deck is actually less powerful than the Switch 2. But, because the Steam Deck is a Linux PC it is much more adaptable meaning a game might be able to still run at 60fps, or 45fps (which is still a significant improvement over 30fps, especially on the Steam Deck OLED's 90hz screen). The Switch 2 though, being a traditional console is better optimised. So there are clear pros and cons to both approach.
This is why I would like greater clarity about the games themselves so that I can make that decision. Some games I decide the platform almost based on "vibes" or on factors like DRM, others though is that flexibility.
